Americans Killed in Afghanistan: 2,000

The killing of an American serviceman in an exchange of fire with allied Afghan soldiers pushed U.S. military deaths in the war to 2,000, a cold reminder of the perils that remain after an 11-year conflict.  The toll has climbed steadily in recent months with a spate of attacks by Afghan army and police — supposed allies — against American and NATO troops. That has raised troubling questions about whether countries in the U.S.-led coalition in Afghanistan will achieve their aim of helping the government in Kabul and its forces stand on their own after most foreign troops depart in little more than two years.

The actual U.S. government has planned to bring all the American troops from Afghanistan in two years. 52 of the American service men and women have been killed by Afghan soldiers, who are supposed to be our allies. 33,000 American troops have been withdrew, remaining 68,000. NATO has 108,000, having withdrew 42,000 already. The U.S. has spent so far $22 billion training Afghan troops, but many of them have reciprocated killing Americans. Outrageous! Intolerable!

THE POWER OF THE MIND

I've seen with my own eyes people getting sick and thinking they're going to die, even the illness is not life threatening. But their minds goes into a negative stage. And you know what? They die!

On the other side of the coin, individuals who are very sick, fight the odds, think positive. And they survive!

The mind is super powerful. It does regulate all our movements and way of thinking. This writer is sick at the present time, but in his mind he's sure it is a temporary adversity and will come back to normal soon. And he will!

I would like to express my gratitude to good friends who have contacted me, concerned about my health. Among a long list, they are Councilman Paul Davis, John Brandriff, Robin Teen (member of the City Disability Commission), RPD Lieutenant Guy Toussaint, RPD Lieutenant Larry Gonzalez, Judy Teunissen, Dr. Hector Zayas Bazán, Blanca Orozco, Colleen Nicol, doctors, nurses, so many neighbors and other friends. (Others will be added).

We take for granted to feel good, to be healthy, but we don't really appreciate such a gift, until we get sick!

THE PUBLISHER.

Dost thou love life? Then do not squander time, for that is the stuff life is made of.

A MESSAGE TO OUR READERS

Temporarily, I am battling a painful illness that will be defeated. Therefore, I am obligated for the time being to concentrate on a very strict medical orders. I won't write or speak for a period of time regularly, but I will continue to do it with the grace of God and my Angel as soon as health permitted to keep fighting for justice and freedom Thanks to all of you.

But there are still many stories in these pages of permanent interest, like the creation of al Qaeda, The French Fries Soap Opera, The relations between Riverside and cities of Communist countries, The Inside of the City government, The FOX fiasco, A passage of the American history, How the killer of RPD Officer Ryan Bonaminio was caught, Exclusive interview with Mayor Ron Loveridge, A 98 years old man enjoying an excellent health, and many more.

When all Americans, Republicans, Democrats, Independents, all Americans, should be united to fight the enemy of our nation, Mitt Romney has politicized the attack to our embassy in Libya. Romney and those who behave like him so selfishly, individualistically and anti-patriotically, it does make me vomit.

Nevertheless of the content in the first paragraph, some brief comments and stories will appear sporadically.

SALVADOR SANTANA.

To walk in these days by the beautiful City of Riverside it takes to be prepared with defensive armored or money. There are beggars all over the place, especially by Main Street and CVS Pharmacy on Market and 3rd. We are getting close to skid row in L.A., full of homeless. On Tuesday, September 18, the City Council will bring up the subject to discussion and hopefully a solution could be found to this big problem in the City of Arts and Renovation and Homeless. Being fair, the City has presented a program to solve the homeless situation. Money is needed, so the whole community should be involved, not only the government.

Mitt Romney has demonstrated his lack of qualifications to be president. Once, he traveled in his car placing his dog on the top of the vehicle, torching  and terrorizing it. Now, he just said that almost half of the people in our country, including seniors, blacks, Spanish, and whites also are a bunch of useless individuals who pay no taxes (second class citizens). How about sales and housing taxes? Such a statement clearly defines how a bad politician Romney is. It will cost him the loss of thousands of votes. This greedy and Mormon billionaire is totally disconnected from the middle and poor classes. He lives in the world of the super rich, caring less for the less fortunate. God saves us from having him in the White House.

HONORING HEROES AND VICTIMS

Glory to the heroes who responded to the attack to the United States on September 11, 2001, to those who lost their lives. Although the evil still exists, Osama bin Laden is dead, as well as many of  its leaders. But the war hasn't finished. Those criminals and fanatics keep causing deaths to our troops and civilians, especially in Afghanistan. This is the time to remember President Roosevelt words, "Or we kill, or we will be killed." God brings peace and justice to our world.

A Suggestion That Was Ignored

It has been known by The Truth that Riverside Councilman Chris MacArthrur proposed to Mayor Pro-Term William Bailey to have a closed session to bring Councilman Andy Melendrez up-to-date about the incident between a Fire Department Inspector and Councilman Paul Davis because Melendez missed the first closed session due to health problems. Councilman Steve Adams coincided with MacArthur.

It didn't happen: Mayor Pro-Term Bailey decided to go public with the reprimand.
